Construction support

Clarify the design requirements, discuss feasible structural options and identify any further information required before the design progresses.

Undertake a site visit to inspect the existing structure, confirm the structural arrangement as far as reasonably practicable and obtain the information required for design.

Complete the structural analysis and prepare the drawings, details and calculations required for Building Control and construction.

Respond to reasonable queries from the client, architect, builder or Building Control as the work progresses, and review unexpected site conditions where necessary.

Review the client’s requirements, architectural drawings, photographs and other available information to establish the proposed works and likely structural scope.

Structural Engineering for Existing Buildings

Structural design for existing buildings should be based on an understanding of the structure that is actually present. For structural alterations to existing buildings, an initial site inspection forms part of ANDO Engineering’s standard design process. The visit allows the existing structural arrangement, materials, load paths and relevant site constraints to be assessed before the proposed alterations are designed. This is an important part of developing a safe and appropriate structural solution, particularly in older buildings where the existing construction may differ from architectural drawings or assumptions made at the outset.
